An Irvine real-estate agent accused of acting as an unregistered agent for the Chinese government and surveilling a relative of a high-ranking Taiwanese official was arrested Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport as she prepared to leave the country, federal officials said.
Wanying "Heather" Zhang, 34, was taken into custody by FBI agents while attempting to depart for China, according to federal authorities.
A criminal complaint filed in federal court charges Zhang with acting as an unregistered agent of the People's Republic of China.
