UK to permanently ban future generations from buying cigarettes: 'It will save lives'

The UK is set to bar anyone born after 2008 from ever buying cigarettes as part of a push to make future generations completely smoke-free.
The United Kingdom's Tobacco and Vapes Bill was passed by Parliament on Monday and is set to soon be signed into law by King Charles.
Once it takes effect in January 2027, anybody currently 17 and under β or born after Jan. 1, 2009 β will be banned from buying cigarettes, cigars or tobacco in the future, according to the BBC.
The bill ensures that by raising the UK's legal limit to purchase tobacco products β currently 18 β by one year every year from here on out, effectively blocking future generations from buying them forever...
