Hamas terrorists fired rockets at southern Israel and Tel Aviv on Monday, apparently timed to mark a year since Gazan terrorists carried out an unprecedented killing spree, as the country solemnly observed the first anniversary of the massacre.

Israel said early Monday it had largely thwarted a major Gazan rocket bombardment with a series of airstrikes, but Hamas still managed to fire rockets at communities near the border and later strike the Tel Aviv area, lightly injuring two.

The rocket fire from Gaza, among the heaviest emanating from the Strip in months, and ongoing Israeli strikes inside the Palestinian enclave served as a stark reminder of the ongoing war set off by Hamas’s onslaught exactly one year earlier, with approximately 100 hostages remaining in Gazan captivity.
