Multiple MAGA supporters are angry over the short-term spending bill that House Speaker Mike Johnson announced on Sunday to avoid a government shutdown, which does not include a Donald Trump-backed election measure.
The stopgap move, set to fund the government through December 20, notably excludes The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), which would require proof of citizenship in the voter registration process.
Last week, Trump publicly urged Republicans to allow a government shutdown if they are unable to include the SAVE Act in the government funding bill."
Several conservative figures have spoken out against Johnson for the move, saying he has "caved" and calling him a "RINO (Republican In Name Only) disappointment."
Media personality Nick Sortor said: "Speaker Mike Johnson has CAVED, and will bring a Continuing Resolution (CR) to the floor WITHOUT the SAVE Act, per Punchbowl.
