In his State of the Union address tonight, President Joe Biden "will absolutely use the word 'inflation,'" White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Monday.
But the economy is not all he'll discuss: He'll also renew calls for Congress to pass elements of his Build Back Better plan -- and among the items Psaki listed, this one stood out: She said the president will outline "new steps to protect seniors and other nursing home residents by cracking down on unsafe nursing homes."
A reporter asked Psaki whether Biden will address any new policies, especially as it relates to inflation. Here is her full response:
"Well, first, let me say the president will absolutely use the word inflation tomorrow, and he will talk about inflation in his speech. Of course, that is a huge issue on the minds of Americans.
"Now, one thing to note is one of the best, most important steps that the Senate could take is to confirm his slate of eminently qualified nominees to fill out the Federal Reserve Board, given they -- given they have an -- a very important role as it relates to inflation.
