Officials in the Dominican Republic said they recovered hundreds of cocaine packages from a speedboat destroyed by the U.S. military as part of the Trump administration’s operations against drug trafficking from Venezuela.
Dominican authorities working with the U.S. said they gathered the packages from the remains of a vessel that authorities from both countries suspected to have been carrying a metric ton, or 2,200 pounds, of the drug when hit by a U.S. airstrike some 80 nautical miles south of Beata Island, the southernmost point of the country.
