In late April 2025, a rumor spread online that U.S. President Donald Trump's administration planned to end a federal program that distributes the opioid overdose reversal medication naloxone — better known by its brand name, Narcan. 

Some social media posts claimed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was "backing plans" to end the program; another post said Trump released a draft budget for the health agency which "will end the Narcan program that saves hundreds of thousands of lives each year." Many noted that Kennedy is a former heroin addict.
