What’s changed in the world of media bias? The newest version of the AllSides Media Bias Chart — Version 12 – reveals the answers.

What’s New in Version 12
Straight Arrow News confirmed as Certified Center™ following an AllSides Media Bias Audit. See what Straight Arrow editors have to say about their rating below.
NewsNation bias confirmed as nearly dead Center, with very little bias detected by our expert panel.
Bloomberg moved from Lean Left → Center, but just barely.
Economic coverage was seen as largely Center, but immigration coverage was more Lean Left, giving more space to immigrant voices.
The American Conservative moved from Right → Lean Right, not due to changes in the outlet’s editorial approach, but due to a change in the political landscape more broadly.
As MAGA redefined mainstream conservatism, panelists determined the magazine's anti-neoconservative stance now reads as Lean Right rather than Right.
Washington Post news confirmed as Lean Left, showing numerous bias types such as omission of source, slant, and spin; anti-Trump framing, Lean Left information placement and imbalanced quoting were also prominent.
The Washington Post’s Editorial Board (not on the chart) is another story — it was rated just barely Lean Right, on the border with Center. Panelists disagreed as to whether or not its pro-free market, anti-government intervention, anti-high taxes, pro-business angle is Center or Lean Right.
New York Post (news section) moved from Lean Right → Right.
The outlet takes an editorial approach that includes sensationalism, subjective qualifying adjectives, story choice, headline bias and slant.
Associated Press moved from Left → Lean Left, but barely.
AP has long lived inside the borderline between Left and Lean Left, with its bias rating fluctuating in ongoing reviews over the last two years. Panelists identified repeated patterns of bias, primarily via story choice, word choice, spin, slant, and opinion stated as fact.
Fox News confirmed as Right.
We also removed opinion ratings from the bias chart in order to focus the chart on news only. You can still view opinion ratings on our website. Should we make an opinion ratings bias chart? Let us know!
Our Bias Rating Method
As the political establishment shifts, public opinion changes, and political tribes merge and diverge, we’re constantly tracking an ever-changing landscape. By making media bias transparent, AllSides equips you to get the full picture and think for yourself.
Our methodology is still 100% human-driven. We rely on panel reviews by experts on the left, center, and right who are trained to see bias, plus blind surveys of Americans.
What Editors Are Saying About Their Ratings
“When I tell people about Straight Arrow, one thing I always mention is how unique it is to have an entire newsroom so personally dedicated to a singular belief: For Americans to trust each other again, first we have to trust the facts. That’s why we are so committed to unbiased, meaningful journalism, despite working in an industry with plenty of incentives to be louder, more sensational and more opinionated. It’s the reason we all got into journalism in the first place, and I believe Straight Arrow’s motto perfectly sums it up: Fear no fact.
Our ambitions are big. We want to show that it pays to do journalism in the right way — focusing on the details, making a conscious effort to present the full picture. We aren't afraid to challenge established narratives and ask uncomfortable questions of both sides. Our Center rating from AllSides reflects that commitment.”
