The officials said Iran symbolically needed to strike back at the U.S. but at the same time carry it out in a way that allowed all sides an exit ramp."

For Context: The US conducted air strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday, officially engaging the two countries in active combat. The strikes came a day after the Iranian government warned the US that “all necessary options” were on the table. US federal agencies began warning of potential Iranian sleeper cells in the US, just hours before the Iranian launch on Monday. The attack came despite reports last week that the country was running out of missile launchers.
