New York Post (Lean Right bias) released an exclusive report that condemned former President Joe Biden for migrant abuses and disappearances that occurred during his administration.
NYP Report: New York Post reported on July 10th that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) came across nearly 450,000 “unaccompanied” migrant children in 2019-2023. The children were allowed into the US without proper checks and balances, allegedly leading to private companies sending them to strip clubs and storage units. Some were reportedly sedated with melatonin gummies and smuggled over the US-Mexico border, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The article said its sources – some anonymous – “exposed the ‘conveyor belt’ of rape and abuse of vulnerable migrant children in the US under President Joe Biden’s border free-for-all.” President Donald Trump made parallel claims before and after NYP released its report.
WaPo Denounces Claims: “We’ve already gotten back 10,000 of those children, and we have a lot more planned to come back,” Trump asserted on July 11th. The Washington Post (Lean Left) published a fact check piece the following week that claimed the statistics were misleading due to their sourcing. It said one data set merely “referred to children who were never given a date to appear in immigration court or missed an appearance.” The article also pointed out that some data came from under Trump’s administration: “It was not a new problem, though it grew substantially bigger with the flood of illegal immigration under Biden.” WaPo also referenced a 2023 Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times (Lean Left) series that uncovered migrant child labor exploitation and trafficking during Biden’s administration, claiming the Trump administration has not eradicated the crisis.

This is an example of how government initiatives can begin with falsehoods.
During Donald Trump’s first term, he implemented a “zero tolerance” policy at the border that resulted in children being separated from their families. The policy was widely condemned before Trump reversed course. President Joe Biden, calling it “a moral failure,” made it a major issue in the 2020 presidential campaign. After Biden took office, he formed a task force to identify about 5,000 children who had been separated from their families.
