Former CDC Director Voices 'Opinion' That Coronavirus 'Most Likely' Came From Wuhan Lab

Former Trump-appointed CDC Director Robert Redfield told CNN it was his “opinion” that the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 inadvertently “escaped” from a lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. “I’m of the point of view that I still think the most likely etiology of this pathology in Wuhan was from a laboratory — escaped. Other people don’t believe that. That’s fine. Science will eventually figure it out,” Redfield said. While the origin of the virus has not yet been officially determined, a February analysis by the WHO concluded that the “lab leak” theory was “extremely unlikely.” Coverage in some left-rated outlets—including CNN, which produced the interview in question—highlighted Redfield’s lack of “clear evidence” for his belief.
