Biden Flip-Flops On Complying With Senate Impeachment Subpoena

Former Vice President and Democratic presidential primary front-runner Joe Biden has backtracked on comments that he would not comply with a Republican subpoena should members seek his testimony in an upcoming Senate impeachment trial. After telling the Des Moines Register on Friday that he would refuse to cooperate with the order, Biden said yesterday that he would obey any subpoena sent to him, but maintained that he doesn't believe there is "any legal basis for Republican subpoenas for my testimony in the impeachment trial." Outlets on both sides of the aisle noted the contradictions in the candidate's statements and how quickly he sought to reverse course on the issue. Some pointed out that the White House had also refused to cooperate with the House's impeachment inquiry.
