Texas Man Shot by ICE Agent Speaks of His Condition From Detention Center

The man shot by an immigration agent in Austin, Texas, over the weekend said Monday that he was bleeding and in pain and that a bullet remained lodged in his back.

The man, Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, an immigrant from Venezuela, said on a speakerphone at a news conference that he only felt one gunshot enter his body when a federal immigration officer shot him. He added that the bullet near his spine was not removed at a hospital because a doctor said that agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement were in a hurry to transport him.
