Twitch, the Amazon-owned streaming platform that has turned gamers and internet commentators into legitimate stars and helped mainstream gaming culture, is laying off 400 workers in the weeks to come — yet another casualty in San Francisco’s tech industry. The live streamer’s layoffs are part of a second round of layoffs at Amazon within the past six months, affecting 9,000 workers across the tech behemoth’s web services department, its PXT (people, experiences and technology) division and advertising, in addition to Twitch.
