Climate Protester Storms Stage, Tangles With Josh Hawley At Conservative Event

A protester invaded the stage Thursday as Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley gave a talk about China and Ukraine at the Heritage Foundation.

Hawley was discussing the prospect of China invading Taiwan when the female protester went on stage and walked over to him holding a sign and talking loudly about military spending. Her sign referenced “war and aggression” and “CODEPINK,” the name of self-described “women-led grassroots organization working to end U.S. wars and militarism.”

“We have the largest military in the world, we spend over one trillion dollars every year, and your state of Missouri, over half the people are in poverty,” the protestor said. She was ultimately taken offstage as she mentioned “the climate crisis.”
