• On Thursday, October 8th, law enforcement officials announced a foiled plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI).
• Six men were charged with conspiring to kidnap Whitmer, and another seven from a group called "The Wolverine Watchmen" were charged with plotting to storm the Michigan Capitol to start a "civil war."
• An FBI affidavit explains, “The group talked about creating a society that followed the U.S. Bill of Rights and where they could be self-sufficient... They discussed different ways of achieving this goal from peaceful endeavors to violent actions... Several members talked about murdering ‘tyrants’ or ‘taking’ a sitting governor.”
• Governor Whitmer has enacted controversial executive orders in an effort to fight COVID-19. On October, 3rd, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that Gov. Whitmer did not have the authority to extend or declare states of emergency related to the pandemic.
