According to Axios, the project would cost $2 billion. Last week, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum visited the island to assess the feasibility of the plan. Burgum wrote on X that the visit aimed to "renovate and reopen the site to house the most dangerous criminals and illegals," to restore safety to the country's streets.
