A 2024 AllSides bias analysis of Yahoo! Search results based on select search terms found 48% of the sources Yahoo! featured were from outlets on the left, with 14% being Left-rated. In total, Yahoo! Search results returned twice as many Left-rated featured outlets as total sources featured on the right. The search term “Trump news” returned zero outlets on the right in the analysis, which was conducted three months before the 2024 presidential election.




Compared to other search engines analyzed — Google Search and Microsoft Bing — Yahoo! Search returned more Left-rated outlets and less Lean Right-rated outlets.

The results were similar to what AllSides found in multiple analyses of Yahoo! News (Lean Left).
Yahoo! Search featured 48% outlets rated Lean Left, 14% rated Left, 27% rated Center, 7% rated Lean Right and 6% rated Right.
The 2024 Yahoo! Search analysis examined 562 articles over a two-week period in August. It looked at the featured articles based on 10 search terms: Election News, Abortion News, Economy News, Harris News, Climate Change News, Trump News, Crime News, Voter Fraud News, Immigration News, Gun Control News.

The term “Trump News” in particular resulted in 45% Left-rated outlets and 0% on the right.


Out of 562 outlets analyzed in Yahoo! Search, media outlets that were featured the most were Fox News (Right), Newsweek (Center), The Independent (Lean Left), Daily Beast (Left), USA Today (Lean Left), Washington Post (Lean Left), The New York Times (Lean Left), CBS News (Lean Left), HuffPost (Left), The Hill (Center). Of the top 10 featured outlets, one was on the right, two in the Center, and seven on the left.
