Alabama Lawmaker Introduces Bill for Mandatory Vasectomies

Rep. Rolanda Hollis (D-AL) has introduced a bill to the Alabama state legislature that, if passed, would mandate vasectomies for men over the age of 50 or who have at least three biological children. The bill seeks to make a point against the regulation of reproductive rights by a government, specifically in the context of abortion. Hollis is quoted as saying, "It takes two to tango. We can't put all the responsibility on women. Men need to be responsible also." The state passed a near-total ban on abortions last May, but the bill was blocked by a district judge in October before its official implementation.
