The Trump administration asked Congress for roughly $87 billion to fund the expanding conflict with Iran as lawmakers press the Pentagon for answers following the deaths of three U.S. service members over the weekend.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth briefed lawmakers Tuesday in a classified bipartisan meeting before appearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee to request the funding as the U.S. enters its 10th consecutive day of strikes on Iran and concerns grow on Capitol Hill over the administration's short- and long-term strategy.
