On Thursday, NBC's Today refused to cover the indictment late Wednesday of Florida Democrat Congresswoman Shelia Cheriflus-McCormick for allegedly having stolen $5 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FMEA) to instead fill her campaign coffers.
CBS Mornings did the right thing and had a full story. Co-host Tony Dokoupil even had a tease in the "Eye Opener" about the congresswoman accused of stealing money to enrich herself.
Co-host Gayle King later cued up correspondent Scott MacFarlane: "The Justice Department has indicted a Florida congresswoman alleging that she stole millions from FEMA. Her name? She's a Democrat – Shelia Cherfilus-McCormick – is accused of taking $5 million in agency funds to use for her political campaign."
