Trump’s Envoy: War Has Killed 350,000 to 400,000 Russians and 150,000 Ukrainians
Ukraine War,Russia,Donald Trump
Unlike some other folks watching the Russia-Ukraine war closely, I don’t pretend to know what the year ahead holds. President-elect Trump has said repeatedly that he intends to end the war and end the war quickly, but we don’t know what kind of deal he would find acceptable. (Many people have strong suspicions.) Trump will have a cabinet that will include relatively hawkish voices like Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio and incoming national security advisor Mike Waltz, and some relatively, if not dovish, then certainly not pro-Ukraine voices like Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and Director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard.
But one figure who’s gotten much less scrutiny is Keith Kellogg, Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Kellogg sat for an interview with Stuart Varney of Fox Business Channel earlier this week. Varney began by asking about the Ukrainians taking credit for the assassination of Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, the chief of the Russian military’s nuclear, biological and chemical protection forces. Kirllov was killed by a bomb hidden in a scooter outside his apartment building in Moscow. Ukraine characterized Kirillov as a war criminal responsible for the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian forces.
