The May 14 edition of Fox News’ America’s Newsroom carried two live snippets of the congressional testimony of Dr. Rick Bright, a Department of Health and Human Services whistleblower who is warning of “unprecedented illness and fatalities” without further COVID-19 mitigation efforts. However, America’s Newsroom declined to carry the entire hearing live, instead discussing topics such as NBC host Chuck Todd’s recent apology about an edited clip, developments in the case against retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (which President Donald Trump has termed “Obamagate,”) and an eventual return of professional baseball games.
America’s Newsroom previewed its first small piece of live coverage with Fox medical contributor Nicole Saphier criticizing Dr. Bright’s complaint. The show then briefly aired remarks by Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and returned to Dr. Saphier’s pushback on Dr. Bright’s criticism of the Trump administration's coronavirus response.
