NYT's Controversial Coverage of Sexual Assault Allegation Against Joe Biden

Summary from the AllSides News Team

The New York Times' Joe Biden has been criticized by some, especially many on the right, for purportedly being biased in Biden's favor. In their investigation published Easter Sunday, the Times "found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Biden.” Originally, that sentence continued after "Mr. Biden" by saying: "...beyond the hugs, kisses and touching that women previously said made them uncomfortable.” The Times later removed that section without an explanation in the story. Executive editor Dean Baquet said in an interview published Monday that the change was made because "the [Biden] campaign thought that the phrasing was awkward and made it look like there were other instances in which he had been accused of sexual misconduct, and that’s not what the sentence was intended to say."
