Dec. 2022 Independent Review Confirms Right Bias Rating

A Dec. 2022 independent review of Infowars by an AllSides editor confirmed our Right bias rating.

Headlines and news content on Infowars.com (AllSides did not review video content) displayed slant, word choice bias, subjective qualifying adjectives, and sensationalism. The website shows strong ideological bias against globalism and modern political and media elites in particular, and displays a bias toward libertarianism and free speech.

InfoWars referred to the Biden administration as "the Biden regime." Story choice bias was on the right side of the political spectrum, with a news report highlighting a stabbing reportedly committed by a refugee in Germany, an article claiming "technocrat globalists are targeting Germany," and an article stating "Moderna Vaccine Injures 6 People within Hours of Super Vaxx Center Opening." One article referred to the COVID-19 vaccines as "deadly" and a "weapon of mass genocide." Opinion writers included libertarians Ron Paul and a writer from the libertarian Mises Institute, among others.

InfoWars showed sensationalism in word choice and headlines such as (emphasis ours), "Climate Lockdowns: They're Actually Doing It!,"  "Bombshell! AZ Democrat Katie Hobbs Colluded With Twitter To Censor Opposition, Leaked Emails Show," and "Fired Twitter Executives Have Committed Treason!".

Additional Information

InfoWars is a news website founded by Alex Jones, a radio show host. Jones considers himself a libertarian and strict constitutionalist, fighting against the perceived threats of techno-authoritarianism and globalism. He is frequently accused of peddling conspiracy theories. Jones has been the center of several controversial interactions on television, including a shouting match with Piers Morgan in 2013 over gun control. During the 2016 Republican National Convention, Jones and conservative activist Roger Stone interrupted a live broadcast by The Young Turks, a liberal media site, and engaged in a heated argument with host Cenk Uygur.

Jones was banned from Twitter in 2018 due to a video of him confronting a CNN reporter for lobbying to blacklist him from the social media platform. YouTube, Spotify, Apple and Facebook followed up with bans of their own. Supporters of the decision said that Jones' content is too hateful and incites violence, while opponents claimed that the tech platforms were prejudiced against conservative speech and free speech.

InfoWars produces original articles as well as The Alex Jones Show, a radio show syndicated on over 160 stations across the country.  As of 2010, the show attracted around two million listeners each week.

Alex Jones Sells InfoWars in a Bankruptcy Auction

Founder Alex Jones sold Infowars as a part of his personal bankruptcy proceedings, initiated after a court ordered him to pay $1.5 billion to the relatives of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims for defamation. Most of the sale proceeds are designated for the Sandy Hook families.

In November 2024, The Onion was announced as the winning bidder. However, Jones has raised concerns about the auction’s conduct, alleging that “the rules of the auction changed.” The sale currently pending review by a federal bankruptcy judge.
