AllSides has long helped people navigate the news with clarity and confidence through tools like the AllSides Media Bias Chart. Today, we’re excited to bring that same mission to a new frontier — social media — with the launch of the AllSides X Influencer Bias Chart.
Just like our Media Bias Chart for traditional news media outlets, the X Influencer Bias Chart offers a quick, clear visual guide to help you identify the political bias of social media content creators on X (formerly Twitter).
In a polarized media landscape where viral tweets often carry as much — or even more — weight than legacy news articles with breaking news consumers, it’s more important than ever to understand the bias behind the content we consume. In fact, legacy news outlets now often link to X posts as a primary source for comments from public officials and news influencers.
Why X Influencers?
According to a 2024 Pew Research Center study, about one in five Americans — and 37% of adults under 30 — say they regularly get news from influencers on social media. That’s not just a trend; it’s a fundamental shift in how Americans get information and shape their political views. News influencers are most likely to be found on X, where 85% have a presence, according to Pew.
Knowing the bias of social media creators allows you to think for yourself and not be manipulated.

Influencers now play a massive role in how public opinion is formed. While AllSides was an early pioneer in providing tools to understand the bias of traditional media sources, there hasn’t been a way to gauge the bias of the most powerful voices on social platforms — so we decided to pioneer that, too.
What is the X Influencer Bias Chart?
The AllSides X Influencer Bias Chart is a visual representation of the political bias of 70 individual influencers who actively post about current events, culture, and politics on X (formerly Twitter) and have over 1 million followers.
These are not organizations or brands — they are people whose voices shape public discourse daily. Some are independent commentators; others are affiliated with media outlets or were in the past. We define an influencer as an individual who actively and regularly posts about current events, culture, and politics on social media.
How We Rated Influencers
As with all AllSides bias ratings, we approached this chart with a commitment to balance, transparency, and methodological rigor.
Each influencer on the chart is rated based on how they express their own political perspective in their content. Most ratings were determined via a Small Group Editorial Review, one of our core bias rating methods. In this process, a panel of three people trained to see bias — one with a perspective on the left, one in the center, and one on the right — independently reviewed a sample of each influencer’s X posts. They assessed signs of political bias based on the influencer’s commentary and positions on hot-button political issues like:
- Free speech and censorship
- Immigration
- Taxes
- COVID-19 policy
- Abortion
- Transgender issues
- The size and scope of government
- Tariffs and the economy
- Israel/Gaza
- Ukraine/Russia
- Support or criticism of public figures (e.g., Donald Trump, progressive Democrats, etc.)
Some influencers openly declare their bias. For others, the team looked for signs of consistent ideological leanings.
Who Made the Cut?
To start, we identified a large pool of influencers who met our criteria — over 1 million followers on X and regular posting about current events, culture, and politics. There were so many influential figures rated Right that we had to raise the bar to only include those with at least 1.5 million followers on the chart in that category.
We curated a subset of influencers to display on the chart — those that best represent distinct voices within the Left, Lean Left, Center, Lean Right, and Right categories. We excluded influencers who hadn’t posted original content in over a year, or who are better known for their work on other platforms (e.g., cable news hosts).
Still, our website contains many more influencer ratings than appear on the chart itself. The chart is just a starting point — a helpful visual summary. You can explore all ratings in detail here.
Get Involved: Vote, Suggest, Share

What’s Next?
This is just the beginning — influencers aren't just on X. They’re thriving on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Tik Tok, and Substack. As social media continues to fragment and expand, so too must our efforts to bring clarity and transparency to the news ecosystem.
