What a "Center" Rating Means

Sources with an AllSides Media Bias Rating of Center either do not show much predictable media bias, display a balance of articles with left and right biases, or equally balance left and right perspectives.

Saagar Enjeti is the Chief Washington Correspondent and Host at The Hill TV (Note: AllSides rates the bias of online content online, not broadcast or TV content).

After an independent review in Nov. 2019, AllSides gives Enjeti an initial media bias rating of Center with low confidence.

Enjeti provides political commentary and opinion for The Hill and has views that fall on both sides of the political spectrum. He criticizes American corporatism as well as establishment Democrats. AllSides gives a Center rating when a source does not predictably show perspectives favoring either end of the political spectrum — conservative or liberal.

Enjeti has praised 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang for bringing automation to the forefront of the debate stage and has said he is "becoming a fan" of candidate Senator Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI). He has also stated that capitalism, not socialism, "is intrinsic to the strength of the United States" while criticizing the U.S. government for bailouts and allowing major companies to "continue shipping jobs to China and Mexico."

Enjeti has also criticized laissez faire economics often associated with the right:

"The libertarian streak of the Republican Party will be the electoral and moral death of it. Libertarianism was founded upon the idea that the greatest threat to you and your life is institutionalized power in the form of the government. It’s time they understood that the government isn't the only institution which can hold power in our society. It’s time to reign in that power wherever it reigns."
