A group of three AllSides reviewers on the left, center, and right rated Robert Reich Left in an April 2025 Small Group Editorial Review. Reich is a frequent critic of Donald Trump, the Department of Government Efficency, and other Republicans.
He's said, "100 billionaire families spent $2.6 billion in the 2024 election. 70% of these donations went to Republicans. Now, Trump and the GOP are gutting the FEC — which enforces campaign finance and anti-corruption laws. See how this works?" and "Trump is threatening to revoke Harvard’s tax exempt status because the university refused to cave to his demands. Why is he so hell-bent on attacking universities? Because an educated and informed citizenry has always been the biggest threat to a dictator's power."
On DOGE, he said, "DOGE has gutted life-saving programs like: -Malaria & HIV/AIDS prevention -NOAA forecasting -FEMA disaster response -USDA food safety -FAA aviation safety -FDA flu vaccine research All to "save" an alleged $160B. We're losing vital services for hardly anything in return," and "Trump's budget calls for a 22% cut that would hit the CDC, NIH, FEMA, EPA loan programs aimed at protecting drinking water, and much more. All to finance giant tax cuts for the rich. Oh and Trump is proposing a record $1 trillion military budget. 'Fiscal responsibility.'"
After Trump blocked federal funding for PBS and NPR Reich said, "Gutting funding for public media will cut off news sources for millions of Americans. That’s exactly what Trump wants: to exert even more control over the news and information that the public receives – or doesn’t even receive at all. It’s a hallmark of dictatorship."
