DonorsTrust, an American nonprofit donor-advised fund, gave $4,987,225 to the Reason Foundation for general operations in 2024, per its 2024 IRS tax filing. The Reason Foundation funds Reason magazine. According to DonorsTrust's website, "We – and the conservative- and libertarian-minded donors with whom we work – believe in preserving the ideals of limited government, personal responsibility, and free enterprise." The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gave the Reason Foundation a $900,117 grant in 2022 "to ensure that State funding adequately and equitably supports the pursuit of improved educational outcomes for low income, Black and Latinx Students.”
