Paul Krugman

Paul Robin Krugman (born February 28, 1953) is an American economist, Professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, Centenary Professor at the London School of Economics, Distinguished Scholar at the Luxembourg Income Study Center at the CUNY Graduate Center, and an op-ed columnist for The New York Times.

Paul Krugman joined The New York Times in 1999 as a columnist on the Op-Ed Page and continues as professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University. He recently left the New York Times to start his own publication on Substack. 

Paul Krugman Bias Rating Confirmed as Left in April 2025 Small Group Editorial Reivew

A group of three AllSides reviewers on the left, center, and right confirmed Paul Krugman's Left rating in an April 2025 Small Group Editorial Review. Panelists noted that during the 2024 election cycle he supported Kamala Harris' economic policies over Donald Trump's.

"Every time you read that Americans feel bad about the economy, bear in mind that what the surveys really show is that *Republicans* feel bad — or say that they feel bad — about the economy," he said.

"Despite despicable efforts by the usual media suspects to turn an awkward statement by Biden into Comey letter 2.0, the vibes have suddenly shifted in Harris’s favor. That may not mean anything, but it’s interesting," he added. 

Responding to Kari Lake's comments on crime in New York City, he said, "I probably talk too much about NYC. But I live here, so I don’t need official statistics to tell me it’s pretty safe. One commenter asked about Roosevelt Ave in Jackson Heights. I’m there quite often — and it’s fine, unless you find nonwhite immigrants inherently scary."
