In October 2026, an AllSides team member conducted and independent review of Le Monde and assigned an initial Media Bias Rating of Left.
The reviewer noticed a strong display of story choice bias - that the publication ran many headlines that would appeal to those on the left, or progressives - and a lack of story choice that appealed more distinctly to readers on the right.
Specifically, in its section dedicated to the 2026 midterm elections, the reviewer noted story angles tended to favor Democrats, particularly progressive Democrats, often framing them positively.
