About La Opinion's Bias Rating

La Opinion is a news media source with an AllSides Media Bias Rating™ of Left.

La Opinion rated Left in an April 2025 Independent Review.

An AllSides April 2025 Independent Review returned a Left bias rating for La Opinion.

La Opinion covered a story on Elon Musk’s PAC being sued by a man who claims he wasn’t paid for accruing a significant amount of signatures for Donald Trump in the 2024 election cycle. The outlet frames the story through a critique of Musk, noting how he is “el hombre más rico del planeta” (the richest man on Earth) that “se atrevio a regalar varios cheques” (was even willing to gift several checks), and yet he isn’t willing to pay a man for the work he did to help Musk and Trump, what is known as spin. Additionally, La Opinion linked to more critical stories on Musk: framing Tesla’s lower sales as a "crisis" as a result of Musk (what is known as sensationalism), as well as an article framing Musk’s infamous salute as a Nazi salute

On the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, La Opinion makes several claims that side with Abrego Garcia, including: “(ICE) reconoció que hubo un ‘error administrativo’” (ICE acknowledges that it was an ‘administrative error’) and “Ábrego García tenía a su favor la decisión de una corte de inmigración de 2019” (Abrego Garcia had an immigration court decision from 2019 that favored him). The outlet showcases bias by viewpoint in only including perspectives that frame Abrego Garcia favorably, while noting how ICE has no standing when taking into account they admitted it was an ‘administrative error.’ When taking into account how La Opinion criticized Elon Musk’s PAC – which worked closely with the Trump presidential campaign – coupled with the outlet’s critique of ICE and backing of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, La Opinion is best rated with a Left bias rating.
