An independent review of Milbank's work conducted by an AllSides staff member in December 2021 concluded that he focuses exclusively on arguments and viewpoints that align with the liberal left and the Democratic party, and makes little or no attempts to present the other side in a neutral light. Based on this review, Milbank's rating was moved from Center to Left.
