According to its About page, Black Agenda Report "asks the questions and tells the stories that few others do." It was founded by Margaret Kimberley, Glen Ford and Bruce Dixon in 2006.
An independent review conducted by an AllSides staff member in January 2022 found that Black Agenda Report focuses excluseively on perspectives from and issues relating to the black left, and tends to highlights criticisms of both Republicans and Democrats.
