What The Left Missed
Parents Ask DCF to Block Gender Treatments on Child
What’s The Story? Two Catholic parents in Massachusetts have accused local school officials of secretly imposing gender transition treatments and tactics on their then-15-year-old child amid an ongoing custody battle. Joseph and Arlene Kutzko said they had no idea about the school’s involvement in their child’s gender identity until the Department of Children and Families (DCF) revoked their custody in Jan. 2025, and the state imposed subsequent restraining orders.
Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey argued, “DCF did not remove the child because of a health issue or a gender affirming care issue,” though she declined to comment on whether DCF is assisting in the child’s transition treatments against the parents’ requests. Healey asserted, “DCF removed the child after there were criminal charges filed against the parents.”
Joseph Kutzko faced multiple charges on Jan. 28, 2025, for allegedly punching his child in the shoulder and threatening to “kill her for not singing in tune during a birthday celebration.” He pleaded not guilty, and a judge dismissed the charges in December, provided that Kutzko take anger management classes and abide by the restraining order until Dec. 2026. Arlene Kutzko faced a witness intimidation charge in July 2025 for telling the child what to say to officials. Her charges were also dismissed, provided that she also abides by the restraining order until December.
DCF told the parents in Feb. 2025 that the abuse accusations were not supported, but it upheld the accusations of neglect. The Kutzkos’ lawyer argued, “The only thing that we can surmise with the neglect [charge] is that they are refusing to transition their daughter.”
Why The Miss? If outlets on the left covered this story, they may have called into criticism the state’s nondisclosure practices, which name individual students as “best situated” to determine their own gender identity without the knowledge of their parents. That, along with the parents’ tear-filled pleas circulating online and the unproven accusations likely resulted in the choice omission.
Doctors Say Euthanized Two-Year-Old Had Other Options
What’s The Story? The Dutch government euthanized a two-year-old in the Netherlands last year, determining the child’s cerebral palsy and other physical conditions terminally impaired “all facets of ‘being human,’” according to new information released in early September. Other doctors determined that the child was “not continuously suffering unbearably” and could still benefit from alternative treatments.
Why The Miss? The child’s death marks the first government-sanctioned euthanasia of a non-infant under the age of 12 in the Netherlands, after the country expanded its rules in 2024. However, the legality of infant euthanasia is longstanding.
The controversies surrounding this story would likely draw negative attention to related stories in the US, such as Massachusetts’ move in August to allow abortions at any stage.
What The Right Missed
ICE Revokes Miscarriage Data Amid Spike of Pregnant Detainees
What’s The Story? “Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lost count of miscarriages, while detaining a record number of pregnant women,” reported The Guardian (Left bias) last week. The outlet found that ICE has “no updated information” on the number of miscarriages after Oct. 3, 2025, despite the Trump administration detaining a heightened number of pregnant migrants at the end of 2025. It highlighted multiple accounts of women who said they were denied follow-up care after their miscarriages and gave voice to an attorney who said, “ICE is clearly aware, and I think their desire to kind of obfuscate the access that people have to this data is intended to cover up the level of life-threatening medical neglect that’s happening in these facilities.”
Why The Miss? The nature of this story convolutes the typical pro-life and pro-family agenda of media on the right, which tend to continually emphasize the importance of pre-and postnatal care. It also draws attention to ICE’s other controversies, such as the allegedly inhumane conditions at Alligator Alcatraz or the $20 million budget for electric shock gloves.
Fired ICE Agent Takes His Life After Undergoing ‘Deficient, Defective and Broken’ Training Program
What’s The Story? ICE agent Joseph Moore, 38, reportedly shot and killed himself outside ICE’s Philadelphia field office in August, after the agency notified him of his impending termination. The Washington Post (Lean Left) reported, “While it’s unknown what drove Moore’s actions, the officers said ICE put him in a poor position by hiring and then firing him, which can be highly damaging for someone in law enforcement.”
ICE reportedly went on a “hiring binge” last year to align with President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda, which “happened so quickly that many new officers were put on the streets before being adequately vetted, multiple former officials said.” This resulted in a wave of quiet firings, as one whistleblower alleged a lack of proper fingerprinting and identity verification, along with a “deficient, defective and broken” training program.
Why The Miss? Outlets on the left portrayed narratives of both empathy for the fired agents and criticism of ICE and the Trump administration. Outlets on the right would’ve spotlit this criticism if they covered the story, along with coinciding ICE controversies as mentioned above.
