Big Week for Bias — and Two Days Left at Wefunder

Blog post image

Big week here at AllSides, and the last chance for you to invest or share with other people who might also want to support AllSides and our mission.

Our Wefunder round closes on Thursday April 23 at 11:59 PM ET. After that, early bird terms are gone.

For years AllSides has been a leader in media bias, balanced information and breaking people out of their filter bubbles. This year our latest Bias Analysis of Apple News spurred an ongoing national discussion about what balanced information actually looks like, and why it matters.

Our media bias ratings are now cited as a benchmark by institutions and outlets across the political spectrum: Harvard Misinformation Review, CNBC, Fox News, The Hill, The Manhattan Institute, and our bias rating for RealClearPolitics was cited in Congressional testimony. That kind of trust, earned across more than a decade, is what makes everything we are building next possible.

Most people have accepted that political division and the inability to understand each other are unsolvable problems. AllSides is proving otherwise.

In February Project Civility and Current in Carmel hosted a Roundtable on affordable housing in Carmel, Indiana. Community members with broadly different perspectives came together to talk through one of the hardest issues facing their town. Their conversations produced valuable insights public officials can use to inform policy decisions.

What do participants get out of it? Well – It’s hard to describe, but what struck me the most was what Ann Marie Shambaugh of Current in Carmel observed in the last moments of the Roundtable:

As the timer neared zero in the room I observed, participants aimed to reconnect with each other so they could continue the conversation. They weren’t ready for the event to end as time expired and we were booted out of the room.

That is what AllSides is working toward. Not more information — but better understanding. And the demand for it is everywhere.

Over 700 investors – with an average investment of $550 – have helped us get here. We close our Wefunder round in two days, on April 23. This is your last chance to invest at early bird terms.

Update April 22: Today, we just closed a deal with one of the top 5 insurance & financial services companies in the US – great evidence and momentum for AllSides’ entry into the research industry as we begin phase 2.

Thanks for joining us.
