  • Police arrested 35 people after a "coordinated attack" on the proposed site of the new Atlanta Public Safety Training Center. Footage captured people throwing objects at police officers and setting fire to cars and equipment.

  • The FBI is searching for four U.S. citizens who were assaulted and kidnapped shortly after driving into Mexico from Texas. 

  • The U.S. is reportedly working with Ukrainian pilots to determine how long it would take to train them to fly F-16 fighter jets, according to anonymously-sourced reports from several outlets.

  • A second Norfolk Southern train derailed Saturday evening in Ohio. No one was injured, and officials said none of the train's 28 cars contained hazardous materials.

 

FLORIDA AND THE MEDIA

A Florida state senator recently proposed legislation that would require bloggers to register with the state if they cover elected officials in Florida.

The bill was framed negatively by sources across the spectrum. A Fox News (Right bias) headline said it was "slammed as unconstitutional." Others went a step further, blaming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for an alleged attack on freedom of speech and press.

DIVIDE ON LGBTQ+ ISSUES, INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Hershey’s Chocolate drew criticism from some on the right after featuring a transgender woman in its International Women's Day marketing campaign.

Critics, especially on Twitter, saw the move as an "erasure" of women and "woke" corporate culture. Conversely, LGBTQ+ activists framed that backlash as a continuation of efforts to stigmatize the transgender community.
