Pro-Life Senate Candidate Denies Report Saying He Paid for Ex's Abortion

According to a report from the Daily Beast, pro-life Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker (R) requested and paid for an ex-girlfriend to receive an abortion in 2009.

The report focuses on a woman who says she conceived a child with Walker in 2009. The woman reportedly "supported these claims with a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a 'get well' card from Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that included an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker." Walker has been adamantly pro-life during his 2022 Georgia Senate campaign against incumbent Raphael Warnock, and doesn't believe abortion should be permitted under any circumstances.

Walker denied the report, calling it a "flat-out lie" and a "hatchet job." He also reiterated his strong pro-life position. One of his children, conservative social media influencer Christian Walker, posted a video criticizing his father after the report was published, and said his Senate campaign has been marked by "lie after lie after lie."

News outlets across the political spectrum, especially on the left and center, covered the report prominently, with many framing it as evidence that Walker is hypocritical and untruthful.
