Vance cancels $2.2B in Obamacare funds over fraud

The Trump administration has cancelled enrollment in the Affordable Care Act healthcare program for about 750,000 people due to ineligibility suspicions, according to Vice President JD Vance. The individuals are allegedly connected to over $2.2 billion in fraudulent Obamacare payments, or about 2% of the AffordableCare Act's annual $112 billion budget. The announcement is part of an effort to ensure that elderly Americans and children who rely on Obamacare services receive the services they need. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said Obamacare is structured in a way that prevents law enforcement from assessing fraud damages. CMS will hold a six-month moratorium on Obamacare broker enrollments and require all existing agents and brokers to re-identify proof of eligibility through a federal database.
