Often a company, institution, or organization will release a public statement about an important issue or event. While the source might be considered by many to have a bias or political leaning to the left, center or right, it is often unfair to prematurely rate the bias of official statements, especially when made by organizations or people not explicitly associated with a specific political ideology or who seldom remark on political issues. Such public, official statements are often at the center of a controversial issue or news event, yet are often ignored or buried in media coverage. To help people decide for themselves, AllSides sometimes chooses to bring more attention to these statements.
