Government Assistance

To one person the term means higher taxes, more paperwork, and making people dependent rather than self-sufficient, whereas to another person it means necessary structures that support human welfare and minimize the damage done by large corporations.

QUESTIONS TO PLAY WITH:

-Often left out of the conversation is the question of what level of β€œgovernment” should be doing the assisting (or not).  Should it be federal? state? local?  Does it make a difference?

-Also often left out of the conversation is the question of what kind of β€œgovernment” should (or should not) be involved.  Should it be government strictly accountable to the people, or more bureaucratic government at a further remove from the checks provided by the ballot box?  Would it make a difference to you?  Why?
