Ukraine Calls on Allies to Send More Weapons

Summary from the AllSides News Team

Ukraine is calling upon western allies for more heavy weaponry and continued economic sanctions against Russia as Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion enters its 43rd day.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is meeting with NATO members in Brussels Thursday to highlight these calls and remind NATO how Ukraine has shown the will and ability to blunt Russian advances. To date, the U.S. and other western countries have provided Ukraine with anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons, but not tanks or aircraft that would require training Ukrainian troops for use.

The meeting comes as Russian and Ukrainian officials agree to establish 10 civilian evacuation routes, and as the UN General Assembly will vote on a resolution to ban Russia from its Human Rights Council over allegations that Russian troops have intentionally killed civilians.
