Trump Considering Giving Convention Speech From White House

President Trump said early Wednesday that he is considering delivering his GOP nomination acceptance speech from the White House later this month, saying it would be the least expensive for U.S. taxpayers.

Trump revealed last month that he was canceling GOP convention keynote events recently relocated to Jacksonville, Florida amid a surge of cases there. And last week, Trump said he would accept the Republican nomination in the convention’s original host city of Charlotte, North Carolina — which he spurned in June over its coronavirus-related public health restrictions.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he's considering delivering his Republican convention acceptance speech from the White House in a move that would mark an unprecedented use of public property for partisan political purposes.

Trump also called for the first formal presidential debate, scheduled for Sept. 29, to be moved up on the calendar because early voting will have already begun in some states.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday confirmed reports that he is considering accepting the Republican Party’s 2020 presidential nomination in a nationally televised address delivered from the White House.
