South Dakota to Send Troops to Texas Border

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) announced Tuesday she will send up to 50 National Guard troops to the Texas border. “The Biden Administration has failed to keep America safe," Noem tweeted Monday. "We shouldn’t be making our own communities vulnerable by sending police to fix Biden’s border crisis.” She said a private donation will fund the deployment, which is expected to last 30-60 days. Earlier this month, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) also pledged to send state law enforcement officers to Texas. The governors of Texas and Arizona penned a joint letter on June 10 requesting help from other states in handling illegal immigration along their borders. Republicans have been highly critical of the Biden administration's handling of immigration along the southern border.
