Report Says Biden Told Obama He Plans to Run in 2024

Summary from the AllSides News Team

President Joe Biden has reportedly told former President Barack Obama that he will run for president again in 2024.

A report from The Hill quoted anonymous sources who said Biden believes he is the only one who could beat former President Donald Trump should Trump decide to run again. On March 24 in Brussels, Biden stated that he would be "very fortunate" to run against Trump in 2024.  Biden served as Obama's Vice President from 2009 to 2017, and then won the presidency in 2020 on his third attempt at the office. Biden faces average approval ratings around 40% as of Monday, and support for him has declined amid rising inflation.

He became president at age 78, and would be 82 at the start of his second term if he successfully seeks one. His age has also sparked questions about his political future.
