Protesters Clash with RNC Attendees in DC

Summary from the AllSides News Team

Protesters clashed with attendees leaving the Republican National Convention (RNC) outside of the White House in Washington, D.C. on Thursday night. Over the weekend, several videos surfaced of protesters following attendees and shouting "racist" as they left the event; other videos show people in front of the historic St. John's Church near the White House chanting, "if we don’t get it [justice] burn it down!” Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky tweeted that night that he and his wife were "attacked by an angry mob of over 100" a block away from the White House. Florida Congressman Brian Mast was also confronted by protesters who repeatedly asked him questions about police brutality. On Friday, President Donald Trump criticized D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for what he described as failure to control the protesters, calling them "thugs." The clashes in D.C. were widely covered by right-rated outlets and covered by some center-rated outlets. As of Saturday afternoon, there is little to no coverage of the clashes from left-rated outlets.
