Pfizer Says Its Vaccine is 100% Effective in Children Ages 12-15

Summary from the AllSides News Team

On Wednesday, Pfizer and BioNTech announced that its COVID-19 vaccine is safe and strongly protective in kids as young as 12, a step toward possibly beginning shots in this age group before they head back to school in the fall. In a placebo-controlled trial of 2,260 adolescents, none of the participants who received the real vaccine developed COVID-19, the companies said. The companies also said that they will submit the results "as soon as possible" to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency, asking regulators to expand their authorizations for the vaccine's use in younger people.
