Jobs Report: Economy Adds 209,000 Jobs, Unemployment Rate Ticks UpThe Bureau of Labor Statistics is out today with its estimate of how many jobs the economy added in July - and it's 209,000. Jobs Report: U.S. Employers Add 209,000 PositionsHiring by U.S. employers remained robust in July, if a bit slower than previous months, with a broad-based rise in payrolls extending a half-year streak of strong employment gains.
Nonfarm employment rose by a seasonally adjusted 209,000 last month, the Labor Department said Friday. Payrolls rose by 298,000 in June, revised up from an earlier estimate of 288,000, and May's gain was revised up to 229,000 from an earlier estimate of 224,000.
