Elon Musk Files Another Notice to Cancel Twitter Purchase

Summary from the AllSides News Team

On Monday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk filed another notice of his intent to cancel his $44 billion deal to purchase Twitter.

Musk says he has new justifications to walk away from his deal due to disclosures from Peiter "Mudge" Zatko, Twitter's former security chief. Zatko alleged earlier this month that Twitter had engaged in "extreme, egregious efficiencies" related to security, privacy and content moderation. Musk's first letter of termination came out on July 8, at which time his lawyers claimed that the main reason for the decision was the billionaire's unfulfilled request for internal spam bot data

Twitter's legal representatives said whistleblower Zatko's statements are "riddled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies and lack important context," and describe Musk's case as "invalid and wrongful." Twitter intends to enforce the agreement and close the deal on the terms and price initially agreed upon by both parties.

News sources across the political spectrum covered Zatko's comments and their impact on the legal battle of Musk's efforts to pull out of the deal.
