Suspect in Brooklyn Subway Shooting Arrested
Summary from the AllSides News Team
Frank James, the man who allegedly shot 10 people and injured 19 others at a Brooklyn subway station Tuesday, has been arrested.
He will reportedly be charged by federal prosecutors in New York with terror-related offenses. New York police named James a suspect following Tuesday's shooting; he recently posted videos on YouTube talking about mass shootings and violence, including one on Monday in which he said he had been considering killing people who had presumably hurt him. He's also believed to have rented a U-Haul van, the keys for which were discovered at the scene of the shooting. On Tuesday, a gunman entered a crowded subway car in Brooklyn, set off smoke grenades, and fired at least 33 shots. In addition to the 10 people shot, at least a dozen others were treated for smoke inhalation and other injuries.
Media on both sides of the political spectrum described James's video rants as racially motivated. Some right-rated outlets placed more emphasis on the race angle. Updated 4/13 at 4:53 p.m. ET with news of James's arrest.
